"Passages of Dawn"

This piece took me a long time to get it done. The background was painted multiple layers before I got the right tone. The grass, pathway and the lighthouse were added in the foreground using the palette knife. This technique resulted in the contrast in texture to the brushed sea and sky. This work was inspired by a walk to the lighthouse with my wife during our honeymoon in the Catlins Region, New Zealand.
